SPECIALISMS

INDIVIDUALS

Whether the 'aim' of therapy is to better understand and accept oneself, to regulate one's emotions, or to express difficult feelings and thoughts, together we can address ourselves to any of these concerns. We will do so in a one-to-one setting which is safe, non-judgemental and confidential.

HEALTH & ILLNESS

My experience of providing psychological therapy to patients and their families/carers affected by cancer is one of my key specialismd. I aim to co-create an environment which supports the needs of clients, to help process feelings that arise when diagnosed with illness, and to open a space to explore the challenges that can arise in people's lives.

RELATIONSHIP ISSUES

Therapy can be a place to talk through relational dynamics, to explore interpersonal connections, and find ways to improve communication with others.

BEREAVEMENT

To experience grief and to mourn following a loss, is a natural response to bereavement. My previous work with a bereavement service highlighted the importance of providing a neutral space to explore any and all feelings that arise when coping with loss.

DEPRESSION AND ANXIETY

The NHS classifies depression as a "real illness with real symptoms". Being able to recognise the impact that symptoms such as prolonged feelings of hopelessness, retreating into oneself, or losing interest in people and things, can have on one's life and wellbeing is vital. Talking therapy is immensely valuable as one of the support strategies in managing depression and anxiety.

WORK-RELATED ISSUES

The link between mental health and the workplace has been increasingly acknowledged. Heavier, unpredictable workloads, blurring the lines between home and working life, poor management and employee support, and negative working relationships, can all have an adverse effect on one's health. Reaching out for therapeutic support will help to prevent further stress and unhappiness, and is a brave step towards looking after one's wellbeing in the workplace.

CULTURAL IDENTITY

I have a deep interest in many of the issues that can arise in exploring one's place in the world. Themes of cultural conflict, loss of identity, discrimination and feelings of isolation, can be worked through in therapy.
